The Conservatives aren't helping either. Under the Conservative County Council council tax has risen 20% since 2005. While they've wasted money on themselves. There are almost triple the officers on £50,000 a year than in 2005, £1million have been spent on consultants, £860,000 was spent on refitting the Council Chamber and £105,000 on a voting system for the council.

They have spent that while making cuts to vital Adult Social Services and Youth Services and while Primary schools in the County are failing in comparison to national averages and neighbouring counties.

The Liberal Democrats have strongly been criticising their wasteful spending and would spend on people rather than the council. In June 2009 you will be given the chance to vote in County Elections and you can give your verdict on the council.

Sue Askin looks at where £1.1million is to be spent on the river side, whilst the Tories cut vital services

been driven into a financial crisis. Their bad spending plans has left a £1.6million black hole in their budget. Putting vital services at risk. Whilst the Labour Government has given Worcester an unfair funding deal.

How the Budget cuts are likely to affect you:

  • A reduction in the number of litter bins in public spaces

  • Increased evidence of dog fouling

  • Fewer Civic flowers - no hanging baskets or fence baskets along the riverside and City Walls Road

  • Saturday morning closure of Council Customer Service centre in Orchard House

Families are facing a difficult time. With unemployment rising, the shockwaves of the financial crisis are being felt in households across Britain. When the banks were in trouble, they got rescued. Millions of people finding themselves in trouble must be helped too.

But the Labour Government aren't helping. The VAT cut did little to help confidence and failed to help the most vulnerable. There is no VAT on basic foods, fuel or children's clothes. And the Conservative's are jumping back and forth, with mixed messages on the economy.

The Liberal Democrats would cut income tax for middle and lower income earners. We would have spent the money wasted on the VAT cut to employ thousands to build a greener Britain.
